For the time being no discipline brings joy, but seems grievous and painful; but afterwards it yields a peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it [a harvest of fruit which consists in righteousness–in conformity to God's will in purpose, thought, and action, resulting in right living and right standing with God].
This is for those who like myself struggle to control there emotions. How much greater things could of been if I learned what I know now. It may still be a struggle but it's not an impossibility. We must discipline ourselves and know ourselves, what we are weak against. Then we can set up safeguards when we are tested and keep our peace. I have learned no peace no power, keep your peace and you can remain stable no matter what storm blows your way.
God is always there, the saying is sometimes God calms the storm but more often he calms us. It is our right to enjoy this life to it's fullness in Christ even when we have upsetting situations. We waste so much time in our life not enjoying every little bit of our lives. No one likes unhappy situations but even in the midst of it when things seem like a hurricane is going on outside. Deep inside we can still be calm, resilient, doing war, by being thankful instead of complaining. No matter what is going on there is always something to be thankful for.
Let Peace Rule Your Life
We all have emotions, and they're here to stay. I believe one of the main goals of every believer should be emotional stability. We should seek God to learn how to manage our emotions and not allow them to manage us.
Think about this: You're out shopping for a specific item you're in need of. You've made a commitment to the Lord to get out of debt. You've agreed to really watch your spending and not purchase things you don't need. But while shopping, you discover that the stores are having a big sale of 50 percent off the already marked down merchandise. What do you do? Do you follow your emotions and give in, or do you wait until your emotions settle before making a decision?
God wants you to make decisions ruled by peace. Letting His peace rule you often means waiting a little while until the emotions settle down, then checking to see if you really believe it's the right thing to do.
Don't let your emotions make your decisions. Always go with peace.
Prayer Starter: Lord, I choose to let Your peace rule in my heart. I don't want to make decisions based on my emotions, but I want to calmly and peacefully choose the paths that You want me to take.
